As 3D printing technology has expanded over the last few decades you may have heard of 3D printed masks and 3D printed hands.
Now a company claims to have listed the first 3D-printed house for sale in the United States. Asking for $ 299,999 (90,390,987) online through Realhead, New York, Real Estate.
“This is the future, no doubt about it,” said Kirk Anderson, SQ4D Inc’s executive director.
SQ4D uses automated building methods or 3D printing to build structures and houses.
“What we want to do is print homes faster, cheaper and stronger,” Mr Anderson said.
The company can set up its autonomous robot construction system on a built-in site in six to eight hours.
It lays concrete floor by layer, forming the foundation, the foundation of a house and the interior and exterior walls of the structure.
“It’s a radical change for work sites,” Mr Anderson said.
3D-printed homes can have a serious impact on the wallets of potential buyers in the United States.
“Construction costs are 50 percent cheaper and 10 times faster than the cost of newly built homes in Riverhead, New York,” said Stephen King, a Jillo Premier agent with a 3D house list.
The 3D printed house will have 1407 square feet of living space and will be built of concrete.
The home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a 2.5-car detached garage.
“I do not want people to be afraid of automation … it’s a different tool and a different method. But it’s still the same product; we are still building a house at the end of the day,” Mr Anderson says.
An open house held for the 3D house on Saturday featured the company’s already built demo home.
According to Mr Anderson and Mr King, the Riverhead home is the first 3D-printed home in the United States.
They said it was not easy because there were strict local building codes.
“We did it in one of the hardest places, and there’s a beauty in that because in the end we can do it anywhere,” Mr Anderson said.
“We can make things more affordable and safer.
“We can use technology to tackle homelessness and help disaster relief in an environmentally friendly way.”
