About 45 million Americans are waiting for deep snow and power outages because a major winter storm is leaving the Rocky Mountains and heading to the east coast states.
In A short distance forecast Released early Tuesday morning, the U.S. National Weather Service said: “The start of the winter winter is within a week, but Mother Nature is fast beginning with several parts of the winter weather forecast affecting some parts of the United States until Thursday. . ”
The same report predicts “major winter weather impacts from the Central Appalachians on Wednesday and Thursday, from the mid-Atlantic to the northeast.”
The area expected to be affected extends from Virginia to Massachusetts.
In North Carolina and southwest Virginia, the NWS said, “Freezing is the main concern … more than a quarter of an inch of ice is possible.”
Washington D.C. and Philadelphia expect “a winter mix and empty rain”, but snow is also occurring further north.
South-central Pennsylvania and western Maryland were forecast to reach 2 feet high, resulting in “extremely dangerous travel conditions and isolated power outages”.

High winds, especially in coastal areas, can create blizzard conditions.
